Celestial Heir Book 3 Update (Finally..)

I just realized that it’s been almost a year since I last posted any updates regarding book 3. For that, I can only say sorry. I’ve been terrible with my communication. I’ve taken a step back from social media over the past several months to focus on actually finishing the book. And, I’m pleased to say, the wait is FINALLY almost over.

Book three, Wings of Rebellion, is nearly double the length I originally expected it to be. The sheer amount of edits, rewrites, and changes I’ve made to the story has taken a long time to finalize. I wanted to wait to make this post until I had a clear idea of how long the editing rounds would take. I’m happy to say the editing is coming along quicker than my previous books. To take accountability, here’s the timeline of events for book three:

  1. End of October: Storyline edits to be finished.
  2. Beginning of November: Ironing out the transition between books 3 and 4.
  3. End of November: Grammatical edits to be finished.
  4. December: Formatting edits to be finished and finalizing.
  5. End of December/Early January: Release of book 3, Wings of Rebellion.

I don’t want to spoil too much yet, but I figured I’d at least give you the working description of book three. It’s subject to change for the actual release, so don’t be surprised if things are adjusted for then.

Wings of Rebellion Description as of October 9th, 2025:

Tezyrnth Fireclaws of Llyn. Queenslayer. Descendant. Tailblade enthusiast. Bruatho’s.. savior?

After defeating the mad scientist Yoin and his creations in Stormgulch, Tez’s group finally ventures north to stop Dreolia before they can finish off a weakened – and magicless – Bruatho. A skirmish with bandits forces a detour to save one of their own. With the entire archipelago hunting Tez, will he be able to reach Bruatho in time to make a difference?

Control over Tez’s unusual magic seems further away than ever. The discovery of a strange artifact may offer a clue into Tez’s unique gift, but time is no longer on Bruatho’s side. The political climate of Erast is fragile, and not everyone is who they appear to be. Dreolia, strengthened by the Draco Clan’s Descendants, moves closer with every passing hour. If Bruatho can’t defend itself against Dreolia’s next attack, then the war is over.

And all along, Ranguay operates in the shadows..

As always, thanks for reading and sticking with the series. I hope this wait will be worth it 🙂

2024 End of Year Update – Book Three

Hey! It’s been a while since my last blog post, and with 2024 wrapping up, I wanted to update everyone with the progress for Celestial Heir book three, Wings of Rebellion.

My original goal had been to release it around December. Sadly, the book will not release this year. I hoped to get more writing done during the summer and fall, but stuff from my personal life got in the way. I also had to rewrite over one hundred pages of the draft, so that pushed my goal back a lot. I’m sorry for the lack of updates, but I wanted to make sure that the date I chose was realistic.

Here’s the good news: I have a lot more free time over the next few months. My (achievable) goal is to finish the draft by the end of this year. I’m over two thirds of the way through it, and I believe there’s a strong chance I’ll finish it by then. After that, I hope to publish the book in the beginning of April 2025, but no later than the end of that month. That will give me three months to rewrite, edit, and make sure I’m putting out the best version of Wings of Rebellion that I can.

In other news, I’ve been steadily chipping away at minor edits to book one, Tail of Revenge. Nothing changes as far as the story is concerned, but the reading experience should be a lot smoother for new readers. I’m 80% of the way through those edits, and that will wrap up within the next week.

I’m also now on BlueSky! If you’re on there and would like to follow me, here’s the link to my profile: https://bsky.app/profile/chesteryoung.bsky.social

Thanks for reading, and, as a Bruathon council would say, fly in spacious skies!

Spring Update (Book 3 Progress, Extra Stuff, Future)

I hope everyone (if you celebrate) is having a nice Easter Sunday! I’ve been meaning to write an update, because the last two months have been full of changes in my personal life, and I won’t be settling into any “normal” routine until the Summer.

First of all, I’d like to thank everyone who’s read Celestial Heir. I really appreciate all the positive feedback I’ve received over the past 2 months! I do apologize for separating the main two POV’s like that. Eventually (likely once book 3 is finished) I’m planning on going back to books 1 and 2 and making some tiny adjustments. One of those adjustments will probably be reordering the chapters in book 2 back to my original layout. The book 1 changes are mainly for readability, and won’t affect the story at all.

I’ve been a little slower writing book 3 than I was with books 1 and 2, mostly because I’ve been super busy with personal things. It’s coming along steadily though, and my goal is still to release it by December. At the current rate, the length will likely be almost the same as Tail of Revenge. I’ll be taking nearly a 7-week break soon because of a new job, so my progress will be stunted until June. This shouldn’t impact my goal of December, though!

Lastly, I wanted to release two “excerpts” from a book that exists in the world of Celestial Heir: The Post-Sever History of Quassa, written by an unnamed Galontrian many centuries before the events of book 1. Both of these excerpts were originally intended to be prologues to books 1 and 2 that I chose not to include. Neither of these are “required reading” for the series, but they do add a bit more context regarding the archipelago’s history. Thanks again for the support!

Scales of Power – Celestial Heir Book 2

I’m excited to announce that Celestial Heir #2, Scales of Power, is available for pre-order here. It will release on January 25th, 2024. The paperback version should be available for purchase around that time as well. The incredible cover art and character sketches were done by Echo Lenora (https://twitter.com/VoiceOf_Dragons).

This installment in the series has been a blast to write. I already made a blog post about it, but for those who don’t know, I ended up splitting my original outline for book 2 into books 2 and 3. Because of that, some of the promises I made about book 2 (namely, massive ship battles) won’t take place until book 3. Sorry. I did include a summary of book 1’s main events, though!

With that all said, I hope you enjoy reading Scales of Power! The world’s about to get a lot bigger, and things aren’t as black and white as they may seem. 😉

P.S: If you purchase the eBook on Amazon, highlighting names and places will give you a brief description of the character/locale.

Final Update: Celestial Heir #2 (and Beyond)

I promised to write an update in early December, and I didn’t forget! This will (hopefully) be the final update before the actual release details.

I’m aiming for an early/mid-January release. I could probably release it in late December, but I want to give myself some breathing room with the holidays coming up at the end of the month. I’m very satisfied with where the story is at (barring some minor tweaks). I’ll be beginning the final rounds of edits within the next few days.

Looking forward, my goal is to release book 3 (WoR) within 2024. It’s a lofty goal, but it’s shaping up to be the shortest entry in the series. Book 4, on the other hand, will likely be the longest. As of now, book two is 10k+ words longer than book one.

As always, thanks for reading!

Celestial Heir Character Sketches (And an Update on Book 2)

Hey! First of all, I’d like to apologize for the lack of updates. The last blog post I made was in the beginning of June. Since then, my personal life has become so busy to the point that I wasn’t working nearly as much as I wanted to on book two. I wanted to share some new artwork and give an update on book two’s progress.

Character Sketches

Character sketches (one for each of the five types of dragons native to Quassa) have been created and are currently available in all eBook and Paperback copies of book one sold going forward. For those of you that already purchased a copy of Tail of Revenge, I made a page on my website showing the sketches here. All five sketches are real characters in the series (Qyne, Tez, Kanimi, and Artin), though the Eagle isn’t present until Scales of Power (book two). Which, honestly, is probably a good thing for her. She has enough to deal with in Stormgulch. 😉

The artwork was created by the incredibly talented Echo Lenora (https://twitter.com/VoiceOf_Dragons). They also created the cover art for book one and two. I highly recommend that you check their artwork out!

Scales of Power Update

I’m currently still buried in the first round of rewrites/edits for book two. It’s taken a lot more editing than I initially anticipated, mainly because it sets the remaining three (potentially four) books of the series up. Luckily, I have a lot more free time to work on this now. Because of that, I won’t completely rule out a late December release, though there’s a good chance that date will be pushed back to January. You can expect more information on this in early December.

Thanks for sticking with me!

Update: Scales of Power – Celestial Heir #2

After writing another ~25k words in book two, I’ve made the decision to split my original outline for book two into books two and three. Story-wise, nothing is affected. This change was made solely in the interest of length, as I didn’t want to rush the next part of the book. The current draft for book two is sitting at ~115k words, ~3k more words than book one.

With this minor change, Celestial Heir will be at least five books long, with potential room for a sixth book. Book two’s original name, Wings of Rebellion, will now be the name for book three. Book two’s name will be Scales of Power.

Currently, I have to finish the epilogue and add a scene before the draft of Scales of Power is complete. Then, the fun part begins: editing! I won’t give any concrete dates for release, but I’ll be sure to post updates every so often. 🙂

Celestial Heir #2 Update

To preface this, I’d like to thank everyone that went out of their way to leave a rating/review for Tail of Revenge. The level of support for this series has surprised me (it’s the first time I’ve been emailed before.. so sorry about the late responses), and I can’t put into words how much I appreciate it! I’ve been debating for a while, but I’ve finally decided that the series will be at least four books long. After looking over my outlines and seeing how long book two has been taking, I wanted to give enough time to flesh everything out and make sure no character, plot point, or event is rushed. I may decide to push it to five, but I don’t think Celestial Heir will be any longer than that.

As far as the progress for book two goes, I’m excited to say that I’ve just about finished part one. Luckily, the book is two parts, and part one is much longer than part two. Part one’s draft is sitting at ~88k words (book one alone is ~114k), so I’ve got my work cut out for me when the editing rounds come. For now, I’m on to wrapping this section up and beginning the second part. I honestly didn’t expect part one to take up this much of the book, but Asier and a certain former-princess needed their spotlight. 😉

I’ve been a bit slow when it comes to writing for the past few months. I usually average a page a day, but I’ve been doing even less than that recently. I’m hoping to ramp that up for the next month (until my life becomes busy again..). I’ll try to update a bit more often throughout the process. For now, I don’t have a specific date or timeframe for the actual release, but I’m hoping to publish around January of next year.

Once again, thank you for the support! 🙂

Tail of Revenge!

Book one of the Celestial Heir series, Tail of Revenge, is now available for pre-order on Amazon! It will release on December 16th, 2022. This book has been in the works for nearly the entirety of 2022, and I’m excited (albeit very anxious) to finally share it!

I’d like to personally thank Echo Lenora (https://twitter.com/VoiceOf_Dragons) for creating the cover art and formatting it for paperback. For those that order the paperback, there may be a tiny illustration on the back, courtesy of valkyrieee13 on Fiverr.

I’m also sorry about the lack of updates and the false promise of releasing the book in October. My life has been incredibly busy, and I haven’t had much time to write or do much else. The good news about this is that work has already begun on book two. I’ve written a significant chunk of the first draft. While I won’t give a concrete release date (or month, for that matter), it will release sometime in 2023. Most likely in the second half of the year.

Thanks for sticking with me. I hope you enjoy Celestial Heir as much as I’ve enjoyed writing it.

Updated Website!

I finally got around to updating my website to look a little more modern. I’m pretty bad with technology, so it took me longer than I’m willing to admit. Nevertheless, I’ll be writing updates and posts here and sharing them to Twitter to escape the character limit.

In regards to the first book of Celestial Heir, the release date is still up in the air. The book itself is ready for publishing. Currently, I’m working on getting the cover created. The release date is expected to be on a Friday in October – barring any major road blocks.

Sorry for the lack of updates. Life has been extremely busy for me these past couple of months. Nearly every ounce of my free time has been spent cleaning up this book (and figuring out paperback formatting.. ugh.) I’ll be sure to post – at a bare minimum – once a month. Stay tuned! 🙂
